Ley-lines

Ley-lines are the basic streams of magic laid down by living organisms. They are drawn where there is sapient life, in particular. Using magic depletes the ley-lines.

The process of infusing items with ley-line energy is called enchanting.

Debunk Theories

Wizards of times past thought that the ley-lines simply magnified the innate magic in an individual, rather than being responsible for the ability to use magic.
