The history of the world is the combined history of the actions of the mortal races and immortal races, in all places on Rhila, beginning with the Pre-Fall Era to the current year. This surpasses the sum of the knowledge available for general consumption at The Library at Dopha Etho, and oftentimes relies on archeology and written documents. For the purposes of study, the 23700-odd year history of Rhila is divided into named eras.
Contents
First Cycle
While little information or evidence survived this period, it is commonly accepted that the Pre-Fall Era was a deity-made utopia that existed from the first year to the year 200, when the First Goddess War broke out. It is considered the First Cycle, but also goes by the more religious name "Pre-Fall Era".
Second Cycle
The second cycle is reckoned from the start of the First Goddess War to the beginning of the Second Goddess War.
Post-Fall Era
In the middle of the year 200, Abhirati made war on Alanna in what is known as the First Goddess War. Evidence indicates that the war lasted fifteen years. However, the Post-Fall Era indicates the time from the start of the war to around 1200.
The Great Awakening
Beginning in 1201, the very first advancements in magical theory and experiment-driven discovery display themselves. Innovations in agriculture, medicine, and science helped the burgeoning middle-class and leisure class. These became the supporters for the initial magocracies.
There were few, if any, regulations and safety precautions, which lead to hazardous conditions in-and-around wizard establishments. This lead to the demise of the era in 2980.
Elf Light (2981 - 4310)
With the fledging magocracies largely in ruin, the elvish empires expanded their influence and control. This period ended when the elvish territories began to fall, starting with the Ra'dranni Territories.
Third Cycle
The third cycle is reckoned from the start of the Second Goddess War to the beginning of the Third Goddess War.
Era of Ausum
As the old empires collapsed under the weight of the Second Goddess War, in 4310, and the last of the wizards' holds decayed, the merchant and tradesman classes rose to form plutocracies and republics. This era ended when the resource-driven war between the humans and the dwarves came to a head, driving the dwarves deep into the mountains in the year 4999. Many dwarven governments today still reflect those mercantile family units.
