Long considered to be a mythical tale of a so called "good" Thieves Guild the Torchlighters has its founding in the days of Dvrask.

Folktales

A master thief became offended by a dungeon and moved all of the traps into the wizard’s private highly secured keep. Legendary for applying safety standards willingly or not to dungeons, keeps, crypts, and vaults unsafe for guards, or those simply utilizing unfair/illegal magical tricks this mysterious organization brings a sort of balance to the ongoing game of cat and mouse between the wealthy and the various thieving orders.

Everyone has heard a tale of an encounter with a Torchlighter operative they’ve heard second hand. No first hand accounts appear to exist. Legends say they can be sitting across the room and pick your pocket without your noticing. Rumors of men falling from great heights & landing on their feet with no injury abound.

The Torchlighters are also said to be the reason ancient tombs can be found to have no sign of people coming through in decades yet all of the torches are freshly lit, and all of the mechanisms are oiled and working.

Basis of Rumor

Older rumors suggest that an early Dvrask era security architect, one Rorin Flynn, may have been the man responsible for starting the order, but strangely, for as well known as the legend of the Torchlighters is, almost no proof exists to support the lasting power of this quiet rumor.

While fantastical and exciting the lack of first hand accounts, or any actual members being known of the length of time since rumors began indicates this is likely nothing more than a late night tale told to keep youngsters in line or the torchlighter will get you.
