Booksmith, Jacob
Jacob Booksmith was a renowned Bookmaker who specialized in spellbook creation. Most famously he created a set of The Dekalogia not seen in public for over 500 years.
Early Life
Born to a scrivener father and his wife, Jacob showed an early talent for writing and began assisting his father with scrollmaking & basic bindery at the age of 6. His prowess only grew under his father's guidance leading to his early selection for inclusion in the Red Wizards Project. Booksmith rapidly attained the rank of Master Binder at the age of 16 a full 8 years earlier than any known Binder.
Working within the Red Wizard's Project many new ways of Spell Book and Scroll creation were developed. He also pioneered the usage of Mirror Tomes paired books frequently used by merchants, explorers, and military scouts to communicate over vast distances.
To the dismay of the Red Wizard's now booming order Booksmith left the order at the age of 22 to experiment with new ideas, techniques, and concepts he felt the Wizard's wouldn't allow.
Mid Life
During the height of the Dvrask Era Booksmith became the most sought after Spell Book Binder with his relocation to the Merchant sector outside Dopha Etho. Magic users, Merchants, and Archivists lined up in droves to purchase his Mirror Tomes, Spell Books, and other inventions.
Disappearance
Approximately 25 years after opening his shop in Dopha Etho at the age of 47 Booksmith simply vanished. Most interestingly the last idea he was known to be working on involved passive enchantments, making standard magical tracking techniques impossible.
Booksmith's Libellus Emporium
A medium sized storefront on Merchant's Row outside of Dopha Etho. The shop is still open millenia later . Rumors since that time have said he was killed by enemies, turned himself into a spell book to live forever, or most oddly took up artificing and joined the Torchlighters.
Known Inventions
- Mirror Tomes
- Self Encrypting Accounting Books
- Passive Enchantments (no active usage of magical energy)
