Urthos was a leader in the Fourth Goddess War, personally defeating Abhirati. He is one of the most noted atheists on Rhila. Ironically, he is also one of the individuals most gifted by the deities.
Early Life
Urthos was born under a different name to a family that resided in the area that is now known as the Lost Isle. It is stated that he was a child during the Third Goddess War. There are some records to corroborate that his family owned a small farm on the outskirts of the largest populated city on the Lost Isle. The Rift originated from this city, an a section of the ruins can be found today on the Gray Isles.
It is believed that his early years were standard for a boy of his age on Morida. His family honored Abhirati, as was the normal fashion. However, the city they lived in was progressive for its time and location. May of the guild leaders of the day held a status that allowed them to avoid sacrifice and slavery for their families; the slaves in the area were imported from other nearby regions.
Temporal Phenomenon
Urthos did not escape the Rift incident, but was not consumed by it. He arrived in the years just before the Fourth Goddess War in the Gray Isles, disoriented and emotionally broken. It is believed he walked around the time-dead city for nearly a month, avoiding the worst of the dangers, before he fashioned a ship to reach the northern coast.
It is understood that Urthos underwent a temporal phenomenon during his seventh year. The survival rate of such events is very, very low. Instead of being pulled into the Rift like most of the lifeforms in the area were, Urthos fell outside of time.
Legends hold that he saw the timelines concurrent to the one Abhirati was fleeing towards. His focus remained on one particular timeline, which was the timeline that held the most happiness for the future, destroyed by the actions Abhirati had already wrought.
Nanami's Promise
When he reached the coast, Urthos carved a chess knight from a piece of his ship. It is said to be his son's favorite game piece, taken from a "game of foreign kings". Nanami blessed this little roughhewn trinket. It is believed that it grants the wearer immunity from the powers and abilities of the deities themselves. It is currently believed to be held in the Library at Dopha Etho.
